Brenda Steele is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Masters in Education degrees from Tennessee State University. Ms, Steele has been working in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System for 37 years. She was a classroom teacher for approximately 18 years and then entered into administration. She has diligently served as Principal of Sylvan Park Paideia School, Amqui Elementary and Alex Green Elementary Impact School. She is currently the Executive Officer for Elementary Schools in Metro Nashville Schools.

What draws you to the STIA conference?

I was invited to attend the conference by our Chief Human Capital Officer.

What are you hoping to experience?

I hope to experience an enriching learning opportunity that allows me to think beyond the expected and meet the needs of the District.

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about improving student achievement. I am always researching and looking for ways to improve instruction and ensure that our staffs are equipped with the skillls and resource they need..

How do you see transformation occurring from this conference?

The conference will hopefully provide resources and tools that I may use to stretch the minds of my team to ensure we are planning strategically to meet the needs of our tier.

What’s your bigger vision?

My bigger vision is improving instruction in the district to increase student achievement.

What needs to happen for you to evaluate this STIA+ experience as a success?

It needs to be rewarding and peek my interest.
